When i type into the address bar or choose from the drop down and hit enter to search, it doesnt do anything

Hi ive noticed that randomly since the update when using firefox ill go to type something into the address bar hit enter and normally it would search with google however it registers me pressing search but nothing happens.

Im trapped as i cant search or choose any links and have to restart the browser unsure why this is happening its my first issue with firefox and the sole reason me making a account to post.

any help would be greatly appreciated
