Mozilla Update appears to have a bug. I have several Windows 10 or 11 PCs with Firefox, and nearly all have the same problem. My event log is loaded with Event ID 16398, saying "A new BITS job could not be created." When I run the Get-BitTransfer command, I see the queue is filled with MozillaUpdate transfers. I have to execute "Get-BitsTransfer | Remove-BitsTransfer" to clear them out.

I can't find anything on the web to stop this, or even acknowledge it is happening to others.

Since Mozilla Firefox web browser v127.0 (released June 11 2024) the manual installation of the Adobe Acrobat Pro extension (the adobe_acrobat-1.0-windows.xpi file) do not work anymore!

So, when you go in any higher version of Mozilla Firefox web browser then v126.0.1 (released May 28, 2024) to this web browser Menu Bar -> Tools -> Add-ons and Themes -> Extensions -> Install Add-on From File..., and then try to manually import-install the Adobe Acrobat Pro extension (the adobe_acrobat-1.0-windows.xpi file) into the Mozilla Firefox web browser, and from this HDD location:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat DC\Acrobat\Browser\WCFirefoxExtn\WebExtn\signed_extn\adobe_acrobat-1.0-windows.xpi

The Mozilla Firefox web browser will say during this .xpi file installation: "This add on could not be installed because it appears to be corrupt"!

However, in any Mozilla Firefox web browser version prior v127.0 (released June 11 2024), this manual import-installation of the adobe_acrobat-1.0-windows.xpi file will be most successfully installed in a Mozilla Firefox web browser without any problem!

I also create the most detailed and step-by-step post on the Mozillazine.org Forum and the Adobe Forum about all of this problem:

https://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?p=14985444#p14985444

So, please help and advice further. Thank you in advance and best regards!

Firefox was working all day. Then when I went back to it later in the day, it would not start saying that it couldn't find a dll.

The instructions I found onsite, using another browser was to uninstall Firefox and do a clean install. They instructions said that I would not lose my bookmarks.

I faithfully followed the instructions and uninstalled the application, it had problems doing that as it kept coming up that it could not find a file. However, it did complete.

I then reinstalled Firefox.

I have no bookmarks to anythings. No banking bookmarks, no entertainment bookmarks... no nothings.

It will take me months to recover if I can even find those sites again....

I'm really annoyed with Mozilla and am now seriously considering a new primary browser. In all my years on a computer I have never had this happen before.

Now if you know a way that I can recover all my bookmarks, I will reconsider.

I'm running for quite a time Thunderbird on Windows up to Win11 without any problem. For about 3 years I'm using the same TB profile in dual boot environment with Linux Mint (v21 until last week and now version 22). I understood why I didn't get access from Linux side after the latest TB update in Windows as obviously the file structure and other things had changed to make it incompatible to elder versions.

However, as Linux is now my normal working environment, I've tried it again after upgraded my system to Linux Mint 22 Cinnamon 6.2.9 , kernel 6.8.0-44-generic and failed again, having the same error message when starting the profile: "Thunderbird is already running, but not responding. To use Thunderbird, you must first close the existing process, restart your device, ore use a different profile. "sudo killall Thunderbird" didn't find a running process.

I've tried importing everything in a new profile, which worked (more or less), but failed with all attempts getting access to my local profile. A local profile appears after importing but contains no data, trying to import its data separately doesn't trigger any error message when just ticking "E-Mail", but nothing is imported. When ticking "E-Mail" and "Settings", I'm getting a red alert that asks me to look into the error console which doesn't help either.

What can I do ????

FF Settings menu, select, Startup, (Open previous Windows /tabs) is greyed out an not selectable. I adopted FireFox because I like the way that it operated. I could open FireFox and previous tabs and windows would open automatically. When I opened a new tab, FF would jump there automatically. If I wanted to check spelling, I could type in the search window and see correct options. ALL THAT IS GONE! Why should I keep using FF when it has lost functions that I depended upon?

Yesterday, I installed whatever the current version is for Windows 11. At some point after that, it hung. It wouldn't close, even after doing End Task in task manager, nor shutting down the PC.

When I try to start it, it tells me "Firefox is already running, but not responding. The old Firefox process must be closed to open a new window."

Go to task manager, but the only thing I see related to Firefox is under Details pane. Shows a PID but I can't kill it even using the taskkill command as admin:

C:\Windows\System32>taskkill /im "firefox.exe" /t /f SUCCESS: The process with PID 24344 (child process of PID 19568) has been terminated. SUCCESS: The process with PID 15724 (child process of PID 19568) has been terminated. ERROR: The process with PID 32008 (child process of PID 8260) could not be terminated. Reason: There is no running instance of the task. SUCCESS: The process with PID 19568 (child process of PID 20576) has been terminated.

The PID noted above shows a location of C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\tobedeleted, but if I try to delete it (or any other tmp files with yesterday's date), it says they're open in Firefox and won't let me.

Attempted uninstall and reinstall. Same issues as above. Firefox is now unable to be used. I have a ton of bookmarks that I haven't backed up recently by the way. I do NOT want to lose them.

A recent Windows update on my Dell laptop resulted in an unusable copy of Windows(thanks Microsoft). After much time and effort, Microsoft's only solution was to do a fresh install of Windows which we did. Of course all software and apps had to be reinstalled. I have used Thunderbird on this laptop for years successfully. I downloaded the most current verision of Thunderbird and installed it. I then attempted to add my email account. I entered my name, email account name, and password. Message came back, "Configuration found in Mozilla ISP database." Configuration shows Incoming: IMAP, SSL/TLS. Outgoing: SMTP, SSL/TLS. I then clicked on the "Done" box. Next an Xfinity window opens with my username. The next box says "Let's go". I clicked that box. A window pops open that says, "ACCESS DENIED, You don't have access "http://login.xfinity.com/login" on this server. I googled that line and found many responses. I tried many of the solutions shown to no avail. I then contacted Comcast/Xfinity. After hours on the phone and finally reaching Comcast Assurance Level 2, the agent and I tried various things and still to no avail. So, here I am. Anyone there have any ideas on how to proceed. Thanks to anyone who tries.

I have an eTrade account and for the past 3 or 4 weeks, I always have to clear cache in Firefox in order to be presented with the login window. The url that comes up when I launch eTrade is: https://us.etrade.com/home/welcome-back. Once I finish with that eTrade session, I log out but the next time I try to launch eTrade, it just spins. Down in the left corner of my screen I see "Read c.evidon.com" but the login screen never comes up and the tab that I launch on is just showing a spin and never seems to time out. Once I go into settings and clear cache, it works (have to close down firefox and relaunch it though). Did something change in the last firefox update that could have caused this. Never had this issue before and I've had firefox and the eTrade brokerage account for many years.

I have version 130.0.1. I keep getting popups prompting me to update. I'm skeptical at popups so I go to check what is the latest version at Mozilla.com. They don't display that; they only want to automate an update. I won't do that. I want to see what is being updated and to what version before I download and execute some unknown automated process. Mozilla should know better than try to cloak an update on us. We are the ones that use Mozilla because of all the "automated" trouble and hijacks out there.

Hello Firefox community,

I’m currently working on a project where I need to programmatically configure the FoxyProxy extension in Firefox every time I launch the browser. My goal is to dynamically set proxy configurations (e.g., IP, port, username, and password) before or during the browser startup.

I’ve explored several approaches, but I’ve run into challenges with each method

Does anyone know of a more effective way to achieve this? Any guidance on modifying FoxyProxy settings on launch or programmatically managing Firefox extensions in general would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you for your help!

When I installed and started Thunderbird for Android, it presented an option to import configuration. I selected that option then chose the option to do it from an app and chose K-9. That option failed. I was however able to go to K-9 and do a settings export then go back to Thunderbird and do an import from file. That was then successful.

Should the import from app have worked? Is there more information I can provide?

I installed firefox v130 from the tar.gz file to /opt. I use the latest enlightenment desktop on debian trixie. Firefox works great, I have no problems with it's functionality.

Unfortunately, I don't like the fact that it uses it's own window manager. When I install firefox from the debian repos (firefox-esr/testing,now 115.15.0esr-1) it uses the default window manager (enlightenment in this case). How can I get firefox to use the desktop window manager?

TIA
