Thunderbird duplicates folders

I am using Thunderbird 128.4.2esr (64-bit) with IMAP where all mails are moved to a folder structure in the local folder.

Since the latest updates of TB, I see that some of my folders under "local folder" suddenly become doubled like

Inbox/FolderA Inbox/FolderA-1

The original FolderA contains sub-folders and even sub-sub-folders. The newly generated FolderA-1 seems to contain all messages from the original folder, but just plain without the sub-folder structure.

It seems that the new FolderA-1 was generated as a kind of backup. It is hard to decide if this new folder can be deleted. The AddOn "Remove Duplicate Messages" does not work here, since it only works on a single folder. Moving all messages from the new folder into the original one does not help either, since the AddOn does not compare messages between folders and their sub-folders.

How can these problems be handled?

Seeking knowledge if possible, on how to import email sub-folder contents from another email provider (in this case, 'The Messaging Company') into Thunderbird. The "Import Tool" in Thunderbird appears limited to only a few sources that it can import from, however I'm unsure if there is another way. Any help would be greatly appreciated. When I move an E-Mail from the in folder to a storage folder it is lost. Undo will not bring it back. It is just gone. This has been happening since the new release. I had no problem with moving item to folders with the prior release.

I followed Mozilla's official instructions for transferring and Thunderbird profile to a new device (running Fedora 40 and Thunderbird version 115). Thunderbird seemed to read my profiles folder correctly, as all my accounts and RSS feeds were present after I copied the old profile to folder to my new .thunderbird directory. However, after downloading the header files for the emails I have received since switching computers, it then tries to download all 60,000 emails or so on my gmail account even though most of these emails should be included in the profile folder already - it looks like have 6 GB INBOX file within this profile.

Is there a way to get thunderbird to read the profile without redownloading all the messages from my accounts? I unfortunately no longer have access to my old windows machine that this profile is from, just the profile folder itself. Let me know if there is anything I can do!

I am unable to send emails from my Optusnet email account through Thunderbird. This also happened a couple of weeks ago, and was resolved with Optus Tech support by updating the SMTP settings, but they don't seem to be able to help this time. What settings do you recommend? Or other solution?

In late September, IONOS canceled me--they blamed their new algorithm. They also deleted or uninstalled my Thunderbird at the same time--they deny doing it. I reinstalled T-bird and downloaded my current inbox from webmail, but 25+ years of work and personal email files saved in Local Folders were missing, along with my address book. Carbonite recovered >130GB of T-bird files that I think and hope are my saved files and put them in one big folder on my desk top--hours later, Hurricane Helene hit. I have my replacement computer now and a recovery drive from Carbonite with>450G of my data on it, including my earlier recovered Thunderbird files.

Question: how do I get those files and address book back into my Thunderbird? This is critical for me. I'm a writer, and all my professional communications are in them, along with all my volunteer work and personal messages--more than 25 years' worth! Between the hurricane and this, I've lost more than a month of work already as well as contacts, medical records, etc..

I just set up Thunderbird to use with my Roadrunner email. I can send messages but when I try to send I get message "connection to Outgoing server (SMTP) mail.twc.com timed out". .

Jeg har problemer med at sende mails til min penneveninde i Sydtyskland. Det viser sig desværre, at hun ikke har haft et virusprogram. Når hun sender fotos, lægger disse fotos sig ind i stedet for de fotos, som kommer fra både private og offentlige mails. Det er sket et par gange. Nu er der også sket det, at et opslag fra en afsender – bliver vist som et kommenteret opslag på Facebook.

Jeg har kontaktet mit virusprogram som siger jeg ikke har virus og at jeg skal kontakte jer for at finde en løsning.

Når jeg vil sende noget til min penneven bliver mailen stoppet af Thunderbird med to advarsler, som jeg vedhæfter. Desværre ved jeg ikke hvad advarslerne betyder og ved ikke hvad jeg skal gøre. When the Inbox is displayed and I delete one message, suddenly all the messages disappear. In their place is "No message found" even though the upper left of the screen shows that there are messages in the Inbox. All other folders also appear to have no messages.

The fix is to close and restart Thunderbird, and all messages re-appear. This happens at least once a day.

The program is running on Xubuntu 24.04.1. There are many message filters and the profile is around 7 GB.

Thanks in advance for any suggestion on how to fix. A screenshot is attached.

I've had 2 problems with Thunderbird for .5-1 year now. I'll make a separate post on the 'lost password' issue later. For this post, I'll focus on the failure to download emails issues.

When I do a send/receive (for all accounts), I will see for an account the name turn blue momentarily (indicating a new email), but that will disappear quickly and no email will be downloaded. When I go to webmail for that account...there is a new email in the inbox that failed to download. Further attempts to download are futile. This has happened with multiple accounts and multiple senders, and the only solution I've found is to move all the emails to local folders, delete the account, re-setup, and move the older emails back. Then it will download the email at issue (indicating to me it is not an issue with the email itself). Deleting the global-messages-db.sqlite file doesn't solve the issue. Anyone know why this is happening and how to stop or at least fix it easier than my solution?

My gut says that the email is downloading, but is getting marked wrong somehow. The emails are not in any other folders that I've detected--they're not going to straight to trash. In thunderbird, all junk settings are off. the 'global' box is unchecked, as is the box in the specific account.

As for the details, it happened today and after I updated to the latest version 128.4.2esr, but that didn't help. It would have been the prior version before updating. Win 11, 1 yr old computer with no hardware issues. The computer is generally up to date...at most a version or so behind--I don't always update IMMEDIATELY.

I have 9 accounts--5/4 Pop3/IMAP. I use the pop3 mostly and that's where the issues are (solely). Also, Thunderbird data is on a NAS on a LAN. I understand that is not preferred, but I've been doing that for a decade or more without issues (until recently). I have my own domain, and that email system uses cpanel. I've had that for years without issue...again until now. I've made no changes on the email server end-that'd be beyond me anyway. And its intermittent--fairly rare, say 1 in 500 or more emails? No encryption.

Nun fehlen alle lokalen Ordner ( und die sind wichtig ! ) Wie kann ich die in der neuen Version einfügen ?

ich bin leider nicht sehr bewandert in Computerangelegenheiten und im Profilordner sind diese ganzen Unterordner nicht mehr drin. BITTE DRINGEND UM HILFE !!!! DANKE

My display of Thunderbird is overrsized in width, probably not significantly but enough that I am missing text. Normally this is not a major concern but I was checking out a rule applied to incoming mail and could see features to the right. I am using W11 operating system on an HP Spectre.

I checked the Config Editor in settings and "layout.css.devPixelsPerPx" is not bold and is set at -1. How can reduced the width of the display?

One of the accounts never shows that it has unread messages. If I go into it - I see new messages just fine, but they are marked as "read". If I go to that account through web - I see the new messages as "unread", as they should be.

This happens on only one of the accounts. All others correctly show, in the list of accounts, that I have unread messages. Do not see any difference between account settings.

The offending account is from gmail, but I also have another gmail one which works correctly.

Any suggestions where to look?

Thunderbird version is: 115.16.2 (64-bit)
