a friend or roommate of mine is having issues successfully importing a backup of his passwords and bookmarks. he has a backup downloaded on another part of the hard drive. I've also read that firefox stores it's own back up during an update. any possible way that might work better?

My firefox installation failed to play any videos. It would load the video forever (longest time was 15 minutes) and never actually play; this persisted on all media sites I tried and was exclusive to firefox (other browsers worked fine). I reinstalled firefox entirely as a last resort. I now cannot sign in with my account to sync any of my browser data.

I use firefox on three places: macOS laptop, windows PC, and mobile phone (ios). When I try to sign in on the windows PC (the new installation), it lets me sign in and then says the sync failed and I need to sign in to sync data. It forces me to verify my sign in every single time. even if I just signed in and hit the sync option, it makes me sign in and verify my account again. It has been an hour of troubleshooting and I'm so goddamn frustrated with this. Never had any issues like this in the eight years I've used FF, but this mess makes me want to switch browsers entirely. IDK what to do.

Hello, i lost all my saved data in my account, When i logged in it seem like a new account, and i always used this account to store my passwords and websites.

Please help it's urgent

On 10/5/2024 I suddenly had no access to my saved passwords for websites, all my bookmarks were gone and no autofill works anymore. I have searched and searched for anything relating to these missing saves in password manager, I've used EaseUS, I've tried system restore. It's like my my saves were completely wiped! When I did a system restore, Firefox uninstalled itself completely when it shouldn't have. Now it's like I never had Firefox on this pc and there's no history or anything dated before today 10/6/2024. I've tried import from other browsers and there's nothing there. I'm a bit upset here, is my history, saved passwords, bookmarks and, autofill just gone and irretrievable?

Looking in custom option for tool bar menu and they are not there. Normally they would be in the selections of icons to place in the top menu bar. But none of these extension icons are there, and thus far, I have not found them in the extension preferences either. These Icons are necessary to use these extensions. I have no clue what to do. Please Help. Thank you in advance.

I'm taking nightly incremental backups of /home for example to my home storage server and, I guess, due to the databases Firefox uses for various storage, those can't be backed up by just copying them, if Firefox is running and has the database open.

What are the best practices, then, for ensuring all profile data, including these databases, is in a state where it can be backed up, while Firefox is running, in a way it can be restored to a fully functioning profile?

For example, with MySQL databases, you can dump the log before running the backup each night, which basically exports the SQL statements needed so you can skip backing up the actual binary database file (like ibdata1).  Does SQLite need something similar?  and is this the only special consideration that is needed, or are there other specialized types of data within our profile directories that can't be backed up by simply copying the data while Firefox is running?

I try to sync FF between a laptop and a desktop. Everytime I login and approve via email code I get the question to sync my mobile and the account icon gets a yellow triangle.

How do I sync between a laptop and a desktop properly?

I followed 5x the instructions that came with "please sign in to reconnect " but it just offers mobile sync and throws the browser out of the account again..

I have tried to regaing access to my main account for days now and I can not get past the "Enter authentication code to continue to ⁨Firefox Sync⁩"

"Open your authentication app and enter the authentication code it provides." "Enter 6-digit code"

So where is the authentication app"

I've tried to Uninstall Firefox Multiple times - I have Clear out the Registry and located every possible file andfolder on my system but it appears Firefox has some anchor files and or lines in the registry that I am unable to remove and all that happens when I attempt to create a new account or use my primary account or some old accounts using old email addresses is it is looking for a 6 Digit Code from an Authenticator App I don;t seem to have or know how to get to - I want this resolved and not told to do pointless instructions from Mozilla support that lead, EVERYTIME to the same issue I am trying to resolve.

I recently bought a new computer and synced my Firefox profile. Bookmarks and other items have synced, but only two of my add-ons (extensions) are syncing from the old computer. I'd love to be able to sync them all especially because one of the add-ons is no longer available and I use it frequently. Is there a different way to bring the extensions form the old computer to the new one?
