We bought 2 new computers. I downloaded Thunderbird to both, imported address books to both. 1 works, other doesn't. On 2nd computer I mistakenly deleted some items from the Thunderbird Personal Address Book--not the one I imported, the one that downloaded with the program--and now no addresses in any address book on this 1 computer will come up when I go to "Write" but they all come up on the other computer. I uninstalled/reinstalled Thunderbird and all info came back EXACTLY as it was before I uninstalled (all 5 accounts set up, toolbars, etc all there). I then did it again: uninstalled/reinstalled ALL Mozilla: Firefox, Thunderbird, Maintenance and both came back up on this computer with all the accounts, toolbars, etc, I had previously installed and I still can't use any address books. The original "Personal Address book" that downloads with Firefox appears to be corrupted (my opinion) and I can't figure out how to get it back as only "properties" comes up and won't let me do anything with it. Please help! I'm happy to uninstall and reinstall Thunderbird, but I want a totally NEW version that doesn't have all my info in it--and I can't seem to get that. Thanks!

As you found out by now, re-installing the application does not touch the Thunderbird profile, where all your settings, mail, address books, etc. are stored. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Thunderbird

You can delete the profile upon uninstalling by deliberately checking the option to delete the profile folder.

Alternatively use the profile manager to delete the profile. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/using-multiple-profiles
