I've been using X-notifier for a long time. It's toolbar button context menu shows you all your available individual email accounts for access.

In the past, in the case of Gmail, it would take you directly to whichever account selected, but now, regardless of the account you opt for, it takes you to you "default/main" account, and you must the go to the Google accounts menu to chose another account.

Is this a Google idiosyncrasy, or is there another Gmail manager that can do do what I'm looking for?

Firefox isn't connect to Google or Gmail services. For those question you need to contact their support help. And if this is a out dated Addon issue then the developer needs to be contact to update their Addon.

The addon no longer supports gmail.

All I want to know is if someone can reccommend a Firefox email manager addon.

Sorry, but that isn't something users on here can really recommended since not all program are equal or what does for one is the same for another user. You can search the firefox Addon page for such program and read the reviews of users to see which one will work for what your looking for.
