It is possible the global search is not up to date and is showing email headers of emails already deleted.

Try the following to rebuild the global database :

Make hidden files and folders visible:

In Thunderbird

  • 'Help' > 'Troubleshooting Information'
  • click on 'Open folder' button.

a new window opens showing the contents of your profile name folder.

  • Close Thunderbird now - this is important
  • locate and delete this file : global-messages-db.sqlite
  • Start Thunderbird.
wait a while whist the global database gets rewritten.

Then try the search again.
