The limit is 6  yet this seems to be ignored, currently I have 18 all downloading at the same time. This takes a big hit on the performance of my laptop and the amount of time it takes to download just one file. I have tried changing the figure to 8 but that made no difference, I have reset it and again no difference. Help please as this is driving me mad !

Hi, I can not understand why my number of parallel downloads exceed the limit set in the about:config file. security.remote_settings.intermediates.parallel_downloads The limit is 6 yet this seems to be ignored, currently I have 18 all downloading at the same time.
