I wanted to find out why Thunderbird on the Mac takes about 15 seconds to send each email. A pop-up window appears that indicates the various stages of sending. This hangs up the system and seems to take much longer than when using Apple Mail, etc. How can I speed this process up or eliminate the progress pop-up?

Also, in Thunderbird, when I compose a message and press "Return," the cursor jumps down two lines. I only want it to make line between the paragraphs in my message. Can this be changed?

However, a more frustrating thing is trying to set up a Mozilla account. I have tried several times to reset my password. Each time, I get an email to reset the password and choose a new password. Then, when I try to log on, I get an error message that my user name and password are wrong. Can you please fix this?

Start you computer in Safe mode with networking. Any faster? If so it is something outside Thunderbird slowing things down. Antivirus software is the usual problem. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Thunderbird_:_FAQs_:_Anti-virus_Software

Go to Preferences-Composition-General Under the HTML section there is an option that says Use Paragraph Format. Uncheck that.

Who are you getting this email with a password reset message from? If you are not working with your email provider to reset a forgotten password you are wasting your time. Any provider with any sense would not email a password to a customer that cannot log in to their account. Most providers have a link on their help page to reset a forgotten email password.

Test your username and password by logging into your account at your providers webmail page. If they do not work there, work with your provider until they do. Then correct what you have in Thunderbird.

To see what password that you told Thunderbird to remember and make changes to what is stored go to: Preferences-Security-Passwords-Saved Passwords Click Show Passwords. Right click the problem password and select Edit Password.
