Please would someone advise if there is an easy way (or any way) to copy all my yahoo emails from thunderbird to outlook on another laptop.

I have already set up outlook 2013 on the 2nd laptop and my yahoo emails are arriving into both laptops (1 = Thunderbird & 2 = outlook), which is great at present. However I'd like to view all my old (sent and inbox) emails on outlook on laptop 2.

Many thanks, Ken

The internet is full of paid MBOX to PST conversion programs. To do what you want you will need to buy one of them as your Microsoft product does not talk standards mail formats.

Many thanks for your reply Matt.

My yahoo account online was not saving my emails (until I changed the settings recently). I'd be grateful if you could advise me how to upload all my inbox and sent emails from my thunderbird account to my Yahoo account online. I tried to use the following addon (www.mailredirect.sourceforge.net/installation.html) which I found on the internet, but with no success. Emails that I forward to myself, have my own email address on them and dont appear as if they were sent from the original sender. Any advice would be appreciated Regards, Ken

Your Thunderbird profile folder name will have all your mail accounts and emails stored in mbox files which have no extension.

You can copy paste the mbox files to the desktop. then you would need to get an mbox to pst file converter to convert the mbox files into pst format.

then you can import the pst files into Outlook.

How to locate Thunderbird Profile folder name: Make hidden files and folders visible:

In thunderbird Help > Troubleshooting Information click on 'show folder' button a new window opens showing contents of profile folder name.

close thunderbird now - this is important.

click on 'Mail' folder click on mail account name.

You will see: Files that have same name as your Folder Pane folders. Files with no extension are mbox files containing emails. Files with .msf extension are indexing files and do not have emails. If you have any folders that are sub folders, you will see a folder with a .sbd extension. Click on that folder to see more mbox files. example; Inbox (mbox file containing emails) Inbox.msf Inbox.sbd

There is also another method: Download this addon to desktop or downloads folder: ImportExporttool

How to install addon: 'Tools' > 'Add-ons' or 'Menu icon' > 'Add-ons'

  • Click on gear wheel icon and select 'Install Add-on From File'.
  • Locate the *.xpi file you downloaded and click on 'Open'.
  • You many need to restart Thunderbird when prompted.

Right click on folder > ImportExporttool > Export folder

Or if wanting to export individual .eml files so you can use either a converter or WLM Right click on folder > ImportExporttool > Export all messages in folder > EML format

This may take a while as individual emails are being exported. then use an .eml to pst converter or You could then use WLM.... as an example... see some info here: http://www.msoutlook.info/question/848

About the redirect add-on; it does work, and very well, for me. You may need to add its toolbar button to use it, or check in the right-click menu for a "Redirect" option.

And I have used it to redirect to users of various other email clients, many of whom have expressed surprise at receiving a message ostensibly from someone they didn't know. So there's evidence that what it does with "resent" headers works in other clients.
