I tried the add-on Thunderbird Conversations but decided to disable and uninstall it, but it still appears to be working, grouping my emails by conversation. How do I get rid of this feature?

I suspect you are in threaded view, which has some similarity to conversations.

View|Sort By|Unthreaded

You may also have a column in the thread list pane which lets you toggle between threaded and unthreaded views.
