Am having problems with AOL Gold as far as HTTPS goes. Am running Firefox 56.0.2 on 64-bit PC. Am getting a GRAY padlock with YELLOW triangle and exclamation. Other apps give GREEN padlock.

Read Larissa Co's Firefox article online.

First, neither of the 2 links below work...get "Problem loading page" Firefox can’t establish a connection to the server at people.mozilla.com.

o what does the UI look like? If a user visits an HTTPS page with Mixed Active Content, they will see the following in the location bar: Shield Icon Doorhanger shown on HTTPS page with Mixed Active Content Clicking on the shield, they will see options to Learn More, Keep Blocking, or Disable Protection on This Page: Shield Doorhanger Drop Down UI If a user decides to “Keep Blocking”, the notification in the location bar will disappear:

Just checked status of "security.mixed_content.block_active_content" and it is set for TRUE.

How do I get the padlock to be GREEN?

There is likely mixed content (content coming over an open HTTP connection) present on the page.

You can see a special padlock at the left end of the location/address bar.

  • a padlock with a strike through means that mixed active content is blocked.
  • a padlock with an exclamation mark attached means that mixed passive content (e.g. images) is present, but not blocked.

The shield icon, previously used for mixed active content, is now used for Tracking Protection.

You can check the Web Console (Tools -> Web Developer) for messages about blocked content and about the presence of mixed or unsafe content.

If necessary use "Ctrl+F5" or "Ctrl+Shift+R" to reload the page and bypass the cache to generate a fresh log.
