I uninstalled the older version of fire fox and tried the download 39.0 off the firefox sight. Now the download cycles at about 50% then goes back 0% and starts over again. I stopped this cycle at 4 times thru. The computer is running windows 8.1 and internet explorer seems to work fine. I have other computers running firefox with no prlblems updating.

You appear to be posting using Firefox 39 on a Windows 8.1 machine.

I assume that is a different machine, so use that to download the Windows installer of Firefox 39 then transfer the file using a memory stick or some other method.

Obtain Firefox from an official site use getfirefox.com or mozilla.org

Were you using a small stub installer from www.mozilla.org

The full offline installer for Windows can be found at www.mozilla.org/firefox/all as it is the Systems & Languages link below green download button.
