in the thunderbird add new email section, I put in the correct name, email address to add, the associated password,, then the server is mobil.charter.net, then I use IMAP and the port numbers are: in 993 and out 587. With all this correct information thunderbird rejects it and says " cannot find server, wrong domain, email, or password, or something like that. I tried for days to add this account with no success.

It is mobile, not mobil. I hope that is a typo, or it is your problem.

Next, your interpretation of the message is not clear. Please quote the error message verbatim.

Third. It is very common for the entire account creation connection to be blocked by antivirus products that are simply interfering in the process, so if you have a product that scans email I suggest you disable it while you configure your account. If you have a VPN, most certainly you will need to disable that as it will prevent you getting mail from Spectum/charter. Spectrum/Cherter refuse connections that do not originate on their network. The whole function of a VPN is to hide the network you are connected to the internet from and pretend you are from somewhere else.

I turned off my VPN and input all the correct information: webmail address, password my name and the server port numbers, incoming 993 and outgoing 587 verified by google, and it failed, it said, cannot find the server.
