I'm getting a request to update Firefox Video Player, should I update? Is this separate from the automatic Firefox updates that occur?

I am able to watch videos now and want to be careful that I'm not updating something foreign. I've never been asked to Update Firefox Video Player. I recently began to try using the different Firefox video calling, Facebook video calling, Google voice, and Skpye, does this have anything to do with this request? I didn't have problems with Skype, but I did with Firefox video calling - I was unable to get the video. Main question is should I make the Firefox Video Updates my computer is requesting?

I am not certain from your details (aside) whether your FlashPlayer software is fully up to date. It is Version 17 so it could be. Currently on Firefox Windows it should be 17.0.0.188

Do not use unknown popup update sites to update anything they may well be hoaxes.

I also note you have Shockwave Director, it is possible you do not actually need that and it may in some circumstances cause problems.

If you have not discovered it yet you may be interested in the built in Firefox equivalent to Skype.

. Whenever you get a message / popup that software / files need to be updated;

DO NOT USE ANY OF THE PROVIDED LINKS

While this may be a legitimate message, it could also be Malware or a Virus. Any time you want or need to check for upgrades, go to the web site of the True Owner of the program in question. For example, to check out Firefox, go to Mozilla.org. {web link}

You can report such a site at; Google Report Phishing Page {web link} which is the same when done while on site by going to Help > Report Web Forgery
