gmail pop up won't load

I've been using gmail through TB seamlessly for years. Just this week I had to change the password for my email _______@gmail.com, and I can't get it to update in TB. Emails pull okay, but I can't send anything from that gmail account through TB. the imap.gmail.com connections runs forever without going through, and the pop up seen in my image appears repeatedly. There's nothing in the pop up, no box, no field, and I can't change the window size, copy the URL, etc.

Same thing when I created a new gmail account and tried it through TB.

I changed nothing in TB before this, but trying to fix I've made sure all the smtp and imap and SSL settings are as recommended, manually typed the new password into that account, deleted and recreated that account in TB, etc. Same problem when I created a new gmail and tried to put that into TB. I've turned off all script and ad blockers in FF and Chrome, but that's not helped the pop up load.

Any help appreciated.

Do you have cookies disabled in Thunderbird? That is one of the usual causes of trouble.

That's one of many things I saw in similar threads, and I checked. Never disabled cookies in TB, and they're enabled now. Thanks, though.
