My Thunderbird email account always asked for a password to contact host. This request for password has disappeared the last coupleof days .The email is working fine. A couple of weeks ago I had a request from mozilla thunderbird to agree to an update alowing change in the computer . I agreed. Could this resulted in loss of password request ? Help! My main email address and another one no longer are listed when I open Thunderbird. I tried to reinstall my main email but was prompted that it already exists. I have not received any email since 7/23/2024. My main email is belaflom@belaflom.com.

hey, After the last 2 updates, my quick filtering (ctrl+shift+K) broke. It works very slowly, it freezes the entire program. Is there any way to fix this? I work on Windows 10, regularly updated

My cox emails opened in Thunderbird until a few days ago. Now a popup window asks for the password for each account. I checked the "security" section, and all of the passwords are saved. Any suggestions? Thanks.

I might be stupid, but I would like to add micorsoft exchange account (unfortunately) and I have downloaded daily build. But I cannot find "Exchange Web Services" option.

Hi Guys, I wonder if you can help . I have had Monzilla Thunderbird App for some while , primarily used for email, and access to my email account with Microsoft and has always been a bit of a pain to say the least. That I fear is because it was never set up properly by myself in the first place.

However, at the moment I can't receive any email from my PC ......."bards@btconnect.com " unless I sign in via a webpage. However, access via my smartphone using supplied Outlook email app, no problem.

So I am hopeful that you guys can help me sort out my PC access once and for all.

The current problem has arisen after receiving a forced donation / subscription page from Mozilla having made my donation I still do not have access to my email and folders.

Brief history: i. Originally PC access to account via Monzilla working fine, (donations made at intervals to Monzilla). ii. Microsoft then changed security systems and servers and with current setup at the time I couldn't get access to email incoming or outgoing ( problem with Imap / PoP3 servers). iii. Fix provided by Monzilla with new account denoted as .... bards@btconnect.com (OWL) whatever OWL stands for I do not know, (annual subscription required). iv. Even with the use of this get around , I still had problems sending mail this I believe was a problem down to default passwords and old server settings. (confliction between default settings and original account settings and use of OWL ? ). v. As mentioned above the current problem has arisen after receiving a forced donation / subscription page from Mozilla having made my donation I still do not have access to my email. problem with server settings again. Don't know what's going on ? and I am thoroughly confused and would appreciate some help getting things back on track. Currently I am using Thunderbird for two e-mail accounts, an imap account with my university and a pop account with my local utility company. The local utility is phasing out their support for e-mail and suggested customers migrate to gmail. I have created a gmail account and successfully added it to Thunderbird. I'm now trying to move my many years of messages from my pop account to my new gmail account by dragging them from one account to the other in Thunderbird. Many times when dragging folders, groups of messages, or even individual messages from my pop account to my new gmail account, nothing happens for quite sometime and then I get an error that the gmail imap server has timed out. Sometimes the moves work great but after a while I can't move anything. I close Thunderbird and come back later to find that I can move a few more things before timing out.

and I immediately began scrambling to get it back. I found this somewhere: "Don't Delete Files" is the preferred option because it saves the old profile's folder and allows you to recover the files to a new profile. So that gave me hope because that's what I had clicked (unfortunately, it was right before I saw the cancel button over on the right). That's what I get for being in a hurry I guess.

Anyhow, after 4 days of reading support forums and tons of trial and error, I'm no closer to restoring that profile than when I first started (although I've learned a lot about what does NOT work).

Btw, both my profiles have always been set up as POP3 at Gmail, although if I ever get this current problem sorted out I'll be shopping for a different POP3 provider. But that's another story.

I know how to create a new profile with Profile Manager. And I found the Profiles folders under both Thunderbird folder as well as ThunderbirdOLD folder. Have I been on the right track so far?

In the Thunderbird/Profiles folder, I don't see a folder with the deleted profile name (except the new ones (duds) I've since created ). On the other hand, I don't see the name of the profile that I did NOT delete either, but somehow it seems to be working just fine. Maybe it's the ".default" folder or ".default-release" folder? I've only ever had two profiles and I may have created the non-deleted profile first, so did that one end up being named .default? -shrug- I have no clue.

Anyhow, in the ThunderbirdOLD/Profiles folder, I also see ".default" as well as ".default-release" folders too. But in addition, I'm seeing a ".deletedprofile" named folder. So that's where I originally thought my several dozen email folders with several thousand emails and Address Book etc are hiding. But I've copied all the above mentioned folders into the several new Profiles I've created, on a trial and error basis but so far..... no luck. All I get when I open one is the new set up screen to set up a new pop3 account.... which I can do, but that's just starting from scratch without any of my saved data. I'm running out of ideas.

Where am I going wrong?

I sent an email last night. After doing so I found the email in the sent folder, but that was not the folder I wanted it in so I moved it to the preferred folder. Today when I looked in that preferred folder, it was not listed. I did a search for the email and it was listed as being in the preferred folder. However, when I click on the email, it says it is not available. What happened? It seems that since it is listed as being in the folder in the search, that it must exist in some form still. But how can I find it? That email was a lot of hard work and now I am not sure that it actually sent or not. Plus, I really need it for my own records. I'd greatly appreciate some help.

Thunderbird automatically updated to v128 earlier this week after I went to Help - About Thunderbird to check that it had updated to v115.14.

Everything seemed okay immediately after the update, but when I started Thunderbird the next day it was very unresponsive. Checking the Activity Manager showed that Thunderbird was indexing messages, but that this was happening very slowly. I let Thunderbird do its thing that day in the hope that things would settle down.

The next day when I started Thunderbird things were still bad. I tried Rebuilding the Global Database but when I restarted Thunderbird it was just as bad, if not worse.

I then turned off indexing in the Thunderbird settings and Thunderbird is now responsive and back to normal.

Is anyone else seeing anything like this? Any suggestions to fix the problem?

I am a long time Thunderbird user so my profile is very large with a lot of accounts, and has been through a lot of Thunderbird versions, so it is potentially more complicated than normal.

Thunderbird version is currently 128.1.0esr (32-bit).

I just got a new machine running windows 11 Home, I installed thunderbird just two of my email acconts and I can't see emails. The titles are there when i try to view don't get anything. I go back to my windows 10 set up I see my messages. Thank you in advance for your help..

I have filters set to auto-forward mail to another email account. Apparently when you have a forwarding filter, it does not add those messages to the outbox.

Hello. My Thunderbird has been slow to pen,lagging while in it,and when clicking on messages,they do not show,and have to close it by right clicking the icon several times then waiting for it to close,then when reopening it,it says it is processing,and still open,and a box appears with an option to close the program so it can open again.I have done nothing to cause this.I have many important emails etc,and i cant uninstall the program,so i installed OE Classic,and was able to import settings from Thunderbird to it,and luckily i was able to export Thunderbirds setting to a 2.1 gn file that was the file i used to import to OE Classic,but OE Classic waits,and authenticates,and then i get a big error message,and here is the screenshot. I guess i,l try outlook express if its still any good for email(have heard /read otherwise) By the way i tried right clicking on the thunderbird shortsut,and selecting run as admin,and make it run in compatibility mode for win7,and thunderbird was fast for a day or two,but now its back to quicksand. I utilized the security revision with Yahoo linked to by thunderbird to update the sign-in. It worked, however I lost the ~1000 emails in my Inbox. Can they be recovered?

(The emails filed in my local folders came across.)

Would it be possible to reduce the size of files generated? Perhaps by splitting them into smaller files.

As a home user with a not very fast upload (~10Mb/s) it takes a very long time to transfer files to my cloud backup provider.
