Firefox keeps telling me there is an updated version (I currently have version 50.0.2) on my Mac (OS Sierra Version 10.12.6). It's not automatically updating, and when I try to manually update it, it says I don't have permission to do it. This is my home personal computer, and I'm entering the correct Administrator password, but it still won't download the update.

I'm not personally familiar with permission issues on Mac.

Have you tried using the About Firefox dialog method listed in this article: Update Firefox to the latest release?

If you need to manually replace your current Firefox, I believe that involves downloading the new DMG file, "trashing" the existing firefox.app file, and then installing the new version from the DMG file. However, as a Windows person, that isn't first-hand information.
