Thunderbird will not respond to infinity user id. Some function works, but mostly Ka-put! (German for dead)

Thunderbird keeps demanding re-enter password after password has been entered and then checked and re-entered multiple times. won't respond to most in put. The problem showed up before my computer was up-graded from windows 10 to Windows 11 a day or so ago.
