A few weeks ago after an automatic update I ended up having Thunderbird version 131.0.1 installed, I have no idea how this happened. On opening I get a message telling me I shouldn't be using a beta version and that I should revert to the latest general release version (128.4)

Today when I had some free time I downloaded 128.4 and installed it. On opening it it says that I can't use a profile file from a later version with the earlier version. Is there a way to recover from this WITHOUT having to set up the whole profile again from scratch.

Meanwhile I have done a system restore so I am back with 131.0.1 It has not given me any problems so far. Is there a new general release version imminent that will get me back on track?

I would appreciate any help I am not a computer expert, just a user, and find Thunderbird a very good email client.

Hi. I'm having problems with reinstating my profile files after inadvertently letting a software update programme update Thunderbird, leaving me with a blank Thunderbird, i.e no accounts etc. I've tried copying the Profile folder from a backup of 2-3 days ago, but it insists on loading a different profile to the one i want (gasu8cec-default-release). How do I make it load the profile I want?

I recently read the article about the root certificate expiration and the updates related to it (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/root-certificate-expiration ). Hi As I am testing something on firefox browser at the moment i have a question. Is it possible for me to have more than one instance of firefox running on my computer with each having different settings. I would like to have eg. 3 browsers open with no 1 having A B and C extension installed - no 2 having D E and F extension installed and so on is that possible or can I do it in ohter ways so I can work in more firefox browsers at the same time?

(sorry for my bad English) I delete and again install Firefox, and after this if I open tabs (Youtube, etc) and close browser, tabs doesn't restore and showing default 1 search tab Firefox. Setting to restore tabs enabled, but not working, lile a method with about:setting. I will be grateful for help.

I have installed thunderbird but it won't open. Get the crash reporter with the message: Thunderbird had a problem and crashed. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling but with the same result.

Hi. Like in topic, I have problem with installing addons. The bar keeps instaling over and over and nothing happens. I have notticed this when trying instal adblock plus. Please help.

I have version 105 and version 132 now installed on my computer. What is the best way going forward? I had 375 tabs open and of course designed my way. Besides saved passwords I have a couple gigs of cookies. Some pinned tabs etc. Should I just start over with version 132 and struggle through it for a few weeks? It used to update automatically but for some reason it did not these last few months and 105 didn't even have an option to update. Thanks for any suggestions.

I know this is a minor issue, but after installing Firefox via winget, the search bar in Windows 10 (Windows Search) finds the Firefox app but doesn't display its icon. Is there a known way to fix this?

Hello - I am running Firefox version 132.0 (aarch64) on a mac M1Max running Sonoma 14.6.1. The most recent Firefox update deleted all of my bookmarks and I can't get them back using the Manage Bookmarks->Restore option. I don't have a manual back up file. There were hundreds of bookmarks. Why did you do this and how can I get my bookmarks back?

This morning I experienced three new things, so I don't know if they are related to the latest update. 1 - My bookmarks were incomplete but I restarted and all of them appear to be restored. 2 - The shield in my toolbar related to trackers was previously always blue and sometimes I had to turn off enhanced browser tracking for websites to appear and function - as with placing orders. Now it is not blue on any site I visit. 3 - There are so many ads now on every page I visit where there were previously none yesterday. Is this related to the time change in most US States? I checked all my settings for ads and privacy and nothing has changed, but these annoying ads are now everywhere. I will add one more issue: the annoying pop up on every page asking me to sign into a google account. I have read the troubleshooting solution but it is for versions of Firefox that existed years ago. Please provide a current solution for the current version of Firefox please.

I'm using Thunderbird 128.4esr on Windows 11 with the Cardbook extension to display the address book. However over the last few days it totally lost the address book. All emails are still displayed correctly.

I do a daily back-up to store the last 30 days data. I tried restoring the Thunderbird folder from an earlier date and the address book displays correctly. However if I close and re-open Thunderbird the address book has gone. After trying this numeous times I saw a message "Migrating cardbook DBImage 5/8" as shown in the attached screenshot. It remains stuck on that indefinitely.

The issue isn't with Cardbook as the same happens if I open the Address Book from the top-right menu

Since 132.0-1 and higher (installed with snap) on Ubuntu 22.04, I can't download opened PDF and image files, nor can I use pop-up windows (downloading files only works if there is a clickable button on the website, even "Save link as..." doesn't work). Changing my privacy settings and disabling all sorts of protection add-ons didn't help.

YOU HAVE RUINED MY CANON PICTURE PROGRAM THAT I WAS USING TO DOWNLOAD PICTURES FROM MY CAMERA MEMORY CARD. AFTER THIS LATEST UPDATE THAT I DIDN'T AUTHORIZE I CAN NO LONGER DOWNLOAD THE PICTURES AS BEFORE OR ATTACH THEM TO EMAILS..

Windows 11 system; currently running 131.0.3 (64-bit).

Was offered the chance to update to 132.0 (About | Help) (I do not and will not ever allow automatic updates without user approval, and my profile is stored in an entirely separate folder structure well away from the insecure \users hierarchy). Did the usual click on the update button, showed 132.0 downloading, update button changed to "Restart to Update", clicked the button...

And the update failed. Help | About shows 131.0.3, and the "Restart to Update" button is still active.

Tried again with a full shutdown instead of using the update button, same result.

So how do I force this update to install?
