Every day, I get this pop-up window telling me to update to 16.0a2. It must have worked as this is the version I ran - but still, the update message.

So I uninstalled (Revo Uninstaller), cleaned caches and ran a couple of registry cleaners (CCleaner & Wise Reg Cleaner), rebooted, reinstalled a fresh copy of aurora v16.0a2... still the update message.  :(

The Aurora channel is a pre-release development channel which receives updates almost everyday, but the version number rarely changes. Like once when it is Nightly, when that version moves from the Nightly to the Aurora channel, and maybe once (if at all) before it advances to the Beta channel, where version numbers don't even appear in the UI and it is simply known as Firefox with no Beta designation any more.

If you type about:buildconfig in the URL bar and hit Enter, and then click on Source built from, you'll see the "changeset" information about the changes included in the update.

If you don't want those almost daily updates get rid of Aurora and use the Firefox release version, or use Firefox Beta which receives updates less frequently - like every week to 10 days, and when it is close to release like every 2 to 3 weeks.
