How are you refreshing that page?

And is that with one specific page, or one specific website?

I am refreshing using Firefox's Refresh Icon. Since you asked, I tried refreshing another web site and it too went to the top of the page.

If Ctrl-R does not refresh the page and keep you at your present location, you may have a corrupted file.

Try

1. Restart firefox,
2. Restart your device, or
3. Uninstall/reinstall Firefox.

Hi Gild and Everyone Else, I have the same problem on two computers. The second computer had Firefox added about 2-3 weeks ago so I don't think uninstalling & reinstalling Firefox will do the trick. In multiple web sites if the page is refreshed it goes to the top rather than where it was at the time before refreshing. I haven't heard anyone say that is the way Firefox was designed. And if so, is there a way around the design?

In addition to Ctrl+R, try the function key F5.

Both should refresh the page in most browsers without losing focus. They work in my versions of Firefox, Edge, and Internet Explorer, although if the server is busy, or your internet connection is slow, you may see the page top for a split second or so, before the page fully reloads and resumes focus at the previous location.

There are websites that use an auto-refresh in the URL. I notice that they often change focus to the top of the page.

Does anyone else have ideas?

F-5 did the same as Ctrl+R. I suspect there is an option that would retain "Focus" as you say. I looked in about:config, and searched in refresh, but found nothing that was obvious.

I still have the problem of going to the top of the Page when Refreshing. I have found that Chrome will refresh a Page, but will be at the place I was before the Refresh. I haven't found any write up that really tells what Refresh does, other than gather the latest changes to the info on the site.

The page needs to be stored in the cache to preserve scroll position. If that is the case then a normal refresh (F5 or Ctrl+R) should keep the scroll position and a refresh with bypassing the cache (Ctrl+F5 or Ctrl+Shift+R) will bring you to the top of the page. That work for me on this website, so if this isn't working for you then you may have disabled the cache.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

• switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Themes
• do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window

Cor-el and everyone else, I have tried a lot of things including opening Firefox in Safe Mode and the problem was still there. I also tried changing a few items in about:config, but without success. I tried to understand/change my Cache, but nothing really worked. But I do have some new , but confusing insights. First Chrome works as it should on the web site I'm having the problem with Firefox so it would seems to say Firefox is the problem. But on the other hand when I refresh this site with Firefox it comes back to where I am in the page, which would seem to say that the problem is with the web site I having the problem.

Since it may be the one site, I wonder what I might ask them to change. They seem to know the intricacies of their web site, but not browsers, but they know it works on Chrome, but not in Firefox. Do you have any advice?
