Just was checking my plugins and FF add ons check says I should immediately update to FP 11.3.300.271 When I updated it twice it says FP was installed but V 11.3.300.268 keeps showing up as the installed version and Adobe check confirms that. What is up with this Flash Player update?

For most purposes FlashPlayer 11.3.300.271 is the latest version released on I think the 14th.

Note however Firefox Plugin check may not always be totally up-to-date and more importantly for some users FlashPlayer 11.3 sometimes has problems on Firefox so some users needed to downgrade to Firefox 11.2 or 10.3, that may still be the case.

(I believe [ http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/release-note/enduser-release-notes-11_3.html11.3.300.271 is a security fix], rather than fixing any of the problems)

Thanks for the reply. I finally got V.271 to install after I uninstalled FP using the FP uninstall tool. Not quite sure why it got hung up. I had the same problem in IE9 and ended up doing the uninstall procedure twice. By-the-way, do the install from the Adobe download site, not FileHippo, something screwy with the download there-kept getting install errors.

Well FP V.271 crashed in both FF and IE9 so I went back to V.268 at least I know that works. I just wasted an hour uninstalling and installing FP. Anybody have any suggestions??

Well I got V.271 to work in IE9 for the time being and I tried V.271 in FF and it crashed again. What was really strange, maybe not, is when I uninstalled the FF FP plugin and went to the Adobe web site V.268 installed. Also, the security advisory only makes reference to a FP security problem in IE9. At least that's the way I read it. I would appreciate comments. Thanks

I hope that you are aware that Firefox and IE use different versions of Flash - (NPAPI) vs. (ActiveX). Comparing the two means nothing - they're totally separate versions of Flash even if the version number is the same, which I doubt.

Thanks for the reply. I'm aware that they are different versions. Since V.271 does not work in FF 14 I went back to V.268 since the security bulletin only refers to a security problem in IE9. Do you have any suggestions as to what I should do with the FF FP plugin? Should I stay at V.268 which works or revert to an earlier version or what? Thanks

I never left using the 10.3 versions of Flash, too many problems have been reported with the 11.0+ versions. Plus with Adobe creating that "container" only for Firefox makes me suspicious of them purposely sabotaging Firefox to help Google get market share for Chrome.

Why the need to include the Chrome browser as an "extra" when a Firefox user goes to the Abobe website to download Flash?

Reminds me of RadioShack - customer walks in to get a spool of wire to finish a project they are working on and the sales associates are more concerned with cell phones than they are with ringing up the product walked into the store for.

Thanks for the reply. I was able to get V.271 working in IE9, at least it's working now. As for V.271 in FF 14 it will just not work and I couldn't get V.268 to work either for some unknown reason, so, I followed your suggestion and installed V 10.3 and everything is working. I don't know what the difference is between V 10 and 11, but, as long as I can view YouTube et al I'm OK with it.

meena140,
You would probably do better to ask a question in your own thread by following the links and prompts from /questions/new

 ". All my add-ons and plugins i checked it is up-to-date. "

Maybe you are too up-to-date !

Some users are finding it necessary to downgrade from Flash Player 11.3 to 10.3

I share your suspicions that something is not right here. If nothing else Adobe seem to have lost interest and impetus in solving Firefox problems. I wonder whether Firefox will soon join Linux and be unsupported by FlashPlayer.

I note one of the engineers (Cheng) mentions Firefox testing is now moving to the Flash 11.4 branch, so presumably Flash 11.3 is not going to get any proper fix as regards some Firefox issues, although Flash Player crashes may be improving.
