Thunderbird won't open. Worked fine yesterday.

After an update of TB and extensive cleanup, I still cannot move some but not all incoming messages to local folders.
This problem has existed for a long time.
I have purged all .msf files to no avail.
I would like to save my outlook notes in x-note. How do I install it in Thunderbird?
