Hello, I'm using both orange mail and Thunderbird. Usually I first get my mails thourgh Orange mail, then they appear on my thunderbird mail box and simultaneously disappear from my Orange mail box, but today, after I saw them on Orange, they seem to have disappeared and are nowhere to be found on my thunderbird box.

Does anyone have any clue and could help me with this ?

I'm talking about 100 business e-mails, so that's a real big problem for me, and a terrible way to start the New Year...

My mail provider requires the usage of portnummer 143 together with encryption method SSL/TLS. Thunderbird automatically uses encryption method STARTTLS when port # 143 is entered. This is according to the recomended usage of special port numbers, but I need no correction from thunderbird, when my stupid provider wants to use ist differently.

Unable to send emails from thunderbird after resizing partition.

I have five email accounts connected to my thunderbird profile, two outlook, two gmail and one more obscure, all of them had correctly set-up outgoing servers and all had… (funda okungaphezulu)

I have five email accounts connected to my thunderbird profile, two outlook, two gmail and one more obscure, all of them had correctly set-up outgoing servers and all had an identical error message of 'Sending of the message failed' with no further details. Every account can receive emails perfectly fine and only sending of emails (and saving drafts as the same message appears if I were to try and save a draft) appears to have been affected.

I opened the browser console in an attempt to diagnose an issue, however I am simply not knowledgeable enough to understand what its telling me.

I suspect a component was lost when I resized the partition, however a reinstall of thunderbird and a wipe of my profiles has not changed the issue and as such I am lost. Could someone more knowledgable than I please point me in the right direction before I reinstall ubuntu trying to fix this.

I have been having problems with my email. It stops responding regularly and I have not been able to download messages since 01/04/2025.

Right now it is trying to download over 2000 messages from July. I deleted about 5000 messages on 01/04 to make more space.

No matter how many of the older messages that are trying to load and I am deleting, it doesn't seem to help or lower the number of messages that are trying to download.

I can't get to my new emails, except when using ComCast email.

Hey, i use Thunderbird as mail client for Gmail, yahoo, Hotmail and i cloud mail. I use the single password too to open my emails. Thunderbird asks me frequently to inter the password of icloud mail and i get a message that says something like: could not log in to me.mail.com. i should generate an app specific password every time to read my icloud mail. how can i make Thunderbird stay logged in into my icloud mail? what are the settings that i have to adjust if any? After months of constant Thunderbird crashes and hundreds of crash reports, and as many attempts at trying to resolve the issue but without any resolution, I am now getting the following message when Thunderbird crashes:

Thunderbird had a problem and crashed. Unfortunately the crash reporter is unable to submit a report for this crash.

Details: Expected value at line 1 column 1

I have version 128.5.2esr installed, but the issues started well before this version you can see the information in the crash reports if you want to look at them. I have tried Troubleshooting Mode, and can confirm the issue persists. I have also noticed that the one IMAP account I have attempts to redownload all messages from the mail server - it never completes because Thunderbird always crashes first. Aside from the obvious request for troubleshooting suggestions on the primary crash issue, I have three additional questions:

1. Is there a way for me to isolate that IMAP account, in another profile or such, to see if that account or server is contributing to the issue?

2. How is the crash report interpreted - i.e. where do I look to see the actual cause of the crash? In the "Details" tab the CRASH REASON and CRASH ADDRESS are not very informative to the average user.

3. What is the best way to provide a list of crash reports - I've had nearly 30 over the past few days, and - literally - hundreds since the issue began in October (which did not appear to coincide with anything in particular - e.g. new hardware or software, or TB update. Is is acceptable to post a list in the body of this thread, or as a txt document, or .... ?

BTW, running this on a Windows 10 22H2 machine, i9-14900KS, 32Gb DDR5, previously nVidia Quadro P5000 now Intel Arc A770 Graphics. Yes, have tried rebuilding POP3 folders, and yes I have a backup of my profile, which is about 35Gb in size.

Unable to send or receive emails, via several gmail accounts. Thunderbird 128.5.2esr (64-bit); Windows 11 Home, 23H2 Have used Thunderbird and Gmail together for over a decade - various glitches along the way, but nothing for which some solution was not found, at least up until now.

1) On Dec 31, 2024, received an error msg "Unable to write the email to the mailbox. Make sure the file system allows you write privileges, and you have enough disk space to copy the mailbox." Thunderbird Inbox for that gmail account had grown bloated - in part because Message Filtering had stopped working (another issue...): moved / deleted a bunch of emails, and was able to receive new ones.

2) On Jan 1, 2025, ALL gmail accounts stopped receiving messages, initially with error of "Connection to server.pop.gmail was reset." As of today (Jan 4), all accounts are still non-functioning, but T'bird has given up even throwing up an error when attempting to retrieve messages. Attempting to Send a msg results in: "An error occurred while sending mail: Outgoing server (SMTP) error. The server responded: Cannot connect to SMTP server 172.253.113.109 (172.253.113.109:587), connect error 10060."

3) Running Nordvpn and Norton security suite. Have defeated both, to no avail. (With close / reopen T'bird; Reboot system thrown in for good measure.) Note: Have ran both of those apps, with Thunderbird, literally for years without any known problems due to the combination.

4) Confirmed that the Gmail / Thunderbird settings agreed with Gmail recommendations (and each other).

5) Removed permission for one of the accounts from google's site, hoping T'bird would prompt for new one: no go. Then TRIED to Remove the Thunderbird-stored Account Password for that account, but was stymied by a "Windows Security" dialog asking for an Account PIN: Do not recall ever creating such a beast for Thunderbird, and none of the possible stored Passwords proved acceptable. Also wonder why a Windows Security dialog is being tossed up from within T'bird.) (The dialog box offers up a "try another way" option, but that simply calls up a prompt for Username / Password: NO COMBINATION of those worked. Note that ALL such combos are stored in Bitwarden and eWallet, and work for those same accounts in other access situations.)

Obviously a frustrating situation. Am posting this in the hope that someone will be able to provide suggestions. In the meantime, have decided that it may be wise to look for alternative email solutions, although that is definitely a Non-Optimal approach: am a fan of Copernic Desktop Search, which only works with either Thunderbird or Outlook, and I have much preferred T'bird over the years.

Whenever I click on a github link specifically in an email, thunderbird stops responding and doesn't seem to ever recover. Restarting my machine worked for a short while before the problem returned. I've also tried deleting a lot of my mail from github, and deleting all my "msf" files, but it doesn't resolve the issue. I've used thunderbird for this for a long while, so this is something very recent, possibly caused by the previous update.

While thunderbird hangs it doesn't appear to be using any abnormal amounts of CPU, so it's not spinning on some heavy task.

I'm on version 128.5.2esr (64-bit), Fedora 41. The browser (which is my default browser) is firefox.

Thanks for any help you can provide, I'd really like to be able to keep using Thunderbird.

I use Thunderbird to download messages from gmail.com. Thunderbird has begun to download and immediately drop some of the messages. I see the downloaded heading and then it disappears from the inbox. Some dropped messages are from sources that I regularly have received from. Because I see the message heading and then it is gone, I believe the problem lies with Thunderbird. Sending of the message failed. An error occured while sending mail: Outgoing mail server (smtp) error. The server responded: resomta-c2p-555920.sys.comcast.net resonta-c2p-555920 sys.comcast.net. Excesive failed authentication. ESMTP server temporarily not available.

In my inbox view, I have the Events tab open at the right. All day events have the background colour of the appropriate calendar, but ones with timings have a dot. (see attached). I have just installed thunderbird and am in the process of transfering .eml files into various folders that I have set up. Everything seems to be working fine except that sometimes a file is transferred and it is unnecessary or old or irrelevant to me. When I try to delete the file it refuses to delete - stays in the message list. It also will not respond to a move or any other command...it's like "frozen". How do I get rid of (or perform any action on) a file like this? And, why is this happening? Thanks!
