I have noticed that when watching videos on Firefox, whether it is regular streaming videos or Netflix, the sound is really quiet. I have the volume turned all the way up on my speakers and have made sure the volume is maxed out within the video player, but sometimes I still can't even hear it, and I have pretty good hearing. This is true for both my Mac and my partner's. The speakers are working fine in other applications - itunes can get quite loud. Any advice for turning up the volume? I have a MacBook, OS 10.6.8. Thanks so much!

mmm ... Firefox doesn't actually play the audio. I think it might depend on the browser plug-ins you have installed. Whether they are ActiveX, codec or media plug-ins.

Perhaps you need to access the browser's plug-in menu [through Firefox Menu > Add-ons > Plug-ins], where the plug-ins are listed, check which ones you have installed and perhaps do a Google search on how to increase the volume.

If volume is still low, maybe check your sound card's mixer controls for the levels of each slider. Your speaker icon can also open up audio properties where adjustments can be made there as well - make sure all are at 100% or full length on sliders.
