Which one is the "down button"?

Why do you press this "down button"? Most of us just type and type and it folds automatically when you get to the right-hand edge. The carriage return/enter/"down button" (?) is used to mark the end of a paragraph. Just like the text here. It works just like a word processor; lines wrap themselves to fit to the margins, and the "enter" key marks the end of a paragraph.

Anyhow, what I think you are looking for is this setting:

Tools|Options|Composition|General and clear the checkbox labelled "Use Paragraph format instead of Body Text by default".
