How do I get Tbird to recognize my gmail password?

52.2.1 This has worked fine for at least 10 years. Now I can't access one of my gmail accounts, Reboot nogo. Uninstall/reinstall nogo. Tried older version 52.1.0 nogo. Checked all POP and IMAP forwarding in gmail nogo. Cookies OK nogo. New password nogo.

Running out of lame options.

What are you using? OAuth2? Application-specific password? Regular password? Have you ever needed to set "allow less secure applications" in gmail? Does it use POP or IMAP?
