1) When I reopen FF, all of the tabs that were open when I closed FF appear, but only the one that I used last has the URL. The rest of them are blank. 2) When I reopen FF, the bookmark sidebar is closed, even though it was open when I closed FF. 3) I can't access => Tools => Options. When I click Options, nothing happens.

This started when I downloaded version 56.0.1. I use Windows 10.

I did uninstall, reinstall, but the same thing happens.

Thanks for your help.

Hi  ! I may be adding to the confusion, but giving it a shot anyway : Would you try and disable the 'IE Tab' extension that shows in your system details, and see if that will make a difference  ? (The other two extensions show that you are participating in two Mozilla experiments : 'Shield Studies' and 'Funnelcake')

The IE Tab seems to have been the problem. Thanks!

You may have corrupt sessionstore file(s). Delete all sessionstore* files and the sessionstore-backups folder.

Type about:support<enter> in the address bar.

Under the page logo on the left side, you will see Application Basics. Under this find Profile Folder. To its right press the button Show Folder. This will open your file browser to the current Firefox profile. Now Close Firefox.

Locate the above file. Then rename or delete it. Restart Firefox.

When I type in about:support in the address bar, it defaults to www.about.support and won't open. I found the sessionstore files by searching File Explorer and deleted them. When I reopen the first time it is fixed. When I reopen it the 2nd time, it is back to what I described above.

Note: Some software, like Advanced SystemCare with Surfing Protection, can protect files in the Firefox profile folder against changes. If you have such software then check the settings or uninstall this software.

If you get diverted to www.about.support then this would suggest that you typed about.support with a dot and not about:support with a colon. You can open "about:" pages via the location/address bar

  • "about:" is a protocol to access special pages

If you use external cleanup software (CCleaner) then check the settings for Firefox and make sure that session isn't included.

I was getting to the right place, just using File Explorer. Either way, I have deleted the files you suggested several times and the problem keeps recurring. At this point, there is no sessionrestore file, only a sessionrestore backup folder.
