False positives in Bulk Mail

Too often I get false positives in my Bulk Mail folder.

It thought it might be AOL, so I added the "offending" email address to my AOL contact list. However, these messages still end up in Bulk.

Mostly they are mailing list items ("This week's sales at Total Wine"!) but sometimes the messages are from "real people", i.e., more important.

Could there be something in Thunderbird that is "too cautious" about spam?

I also use the native iOS mail app for the same email account. Perhaps iOS is the offender?

Seems difficult to track down who is flagging messages as spam/bulk.

Thanks,

Joe

被選擇的解決方法

well I am not color blind and it is not just black so it is red/orange.

So add the sender address to your Thunderbird address book and ensure it is set to exempt contacts from that address book in Account Settings > Junk.

Are the junk flags red/orange or open centered?

Colored is Thunderbird making junk decisions, open mail are the Yahoo servers having fun. It is an easy way to determine which source is placing mail n the folder.

Thanks Matt

Would you consider the attached red/orange or open centered?

Also when you mentioned Yahoo, I assume you meant service provider, not something specific to Yahoo. Correct?

I mean the bulk mail folder... something entirely yahoo specific. Now AOL and verizon are under the yahoo banner they get it as well, simply because they are Yahoo account now. But it makes no difference as far the the icon colours are concerned. That is Provider V Thunderbird and not any particular provider specific.

HELPFUL: Did not know there were two different types of junk mail icons - one for provider's filter and one for Tbird's filter.

NOT HELPFUL: Snarky "color blind" response to a legit question. Again, had no reason to think I need to learn different types of junk icons.

HELPFUL: Did not know I had to use Account Setting to enable / disable Tbird's filtering.

Thank you, Joe
