I have the latest version of acrobat reader installed (10.1.4.38) but it still says it needs updating

more options

Problem started out of the blue a few days ago. When I go to a page with a PDF file, it says "Plugin is vulnerable... click to start anyway" (paraphrased). When I look in Add-Ons, it has the following line about the Acrobat Reader "adobe acrobat is known to be vulnerable and should be updated 10.1.4.38". That is the latest version available.

I tried updating it, removing it from my computer, reinstalling, etc, several times. No improvement - I still get the same message.

被選擇的解決方法

I have no idea where 10.1.4.38 is coming from. But let me set that aside for the moment.

There actually are two upgrade paths for you.

  • Adobe Reader 10.1.6
  • Adobe Reader 11.0.2

The simplest path would be, inside Adobe Reader X, to use Help > Check for Updates to get 10.1.6. Does that work?

Weird... if you go to adobe.com, point at the Downloads link and choose Adobe Reader, then send you to a page with 10.1.4.?

I used the "update from within Reader" option to get to 10.1.6 and that solved it.

Thanks,

Please tell me how to get "insider the Reader." I clicked START, then clicked Adobe Reader X and nothing happens. I tired Right-clicking, Open, still nothing. Thanks!

Hi garyd11, has Adobe Reader ever run correctly on your PC, in other words, is this a new problem? Actually, regardless of your answer, if Adobe Reader has crashed, I suspect that restarting Windows might help.

it seems its no good to update right from the add-on you have to go to the site it looks like the update is currently 11.0.03 http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?platform=windows&product=10

Hi DarkDrakeShadow, Adobe has released a minor update for the Adobe Acrobat X / Adobe Reader X series, which is 10.1.7. Can you get that one using

Help > Check for Updates

inside your Adobe product? Fingers crossed.

Yes...you have to do the update from with local Acrobat install i.e. start it form the desktop/start menu. Otherwise you will still run into the problem.
