I started using Yahoo's key account for my phone. I have used it for Thunderbird although I've had some problems with not all emails sending. I am using the instructions for using Yahoo in Thunderbird. I'm opening a new email account using my same account and I'm at the place where I need to add my passwords. I did get a third party code from Yahoo for this before, but now when I try to search Yahoo's site for instructions, I cannot find how to have the third party code sent to my phone. It's crazy that I have to come here to ask, but can anyone tell me how I get Yahoo to send that to me again? Yahoo's site is worthless on this. Thanks if anyone can help.

I typed Yahoo 2 step verification into Google and the Yahoo instructions appeared. https://help.yahoo.com/kb/SLN15241.html

Yes, thanks. I'd forgotten that it requires using my phone's mobile Yahoo mail app. There I requested a security code. In my case on an Android tapping on the upper right hand icon that takes me to my inbox, unread, settings, etc. At the top I clicked on the security key. Once it gave me that at the bottom of that screen it has a link for other apps like Outlook or other emails which need a code for their password.

The words third party were not used which I think would at least be a good search term for Yahoo to default to. It would also be nice if they outlined all these steps. on their FAQ page.

So all the steps specifically were: following this link:

I followed the instructions I opened a "new" email account using my old information (an option provided by Thunderbird). I entered my name, email address, and the code generated on my phone for Thunderbird in the password box, checked for it to remember the password, and my email sent right away. Hopefully Thunderbird will continue working with this new-fangled Yahoo security code system. Thanks and Cheers!
