How can I get back my bookmarks bar?
Yesterday the Bookmarks Toolbar disappeared from my installation of Firefox 67.0.1 running under Windows 8.1 x64 Pro and I haven't been able to get it back. I have tried various permutations of: 1: Start Firefox 2. Remove check mark from "Bookmarks Toolbar" under "View" - "Toolbars" 3. Restart Firefox in "Safe Mode" 4. Enable "Menu Bar" and "Bookmarks Toolbar" under "Customize" - "Toolbars" (only menu bar appears) 5. Disable "Bookmarks Toolbar" under "Customize" - "Toolbars" 7. Reboot PC 8. Start Firefox 9. Reenable "Bookmarks Toolbar" under "View" - "Toolbars"
I have found several articles advising to "Refresh Firefox". I am reluctant to do this, as I likely cannot remember all of the changes I have made to Firefox, not only under "Preferences", but also in "about:config". I am particularly concerned about losing all of the exceptions which I have configured in the add-on uMatrix. I have saved the data from about:support, but I don't see any such informatin in the saved data.
I have also tried to follow the procedure(s) documented in http://kb.mozillazine.org/Standard_diagnostic_%28Firefox%29. However, the instructions appear to be out of date, as I cannot find GUI elements as described there.
Is there something else I can try?
P.S. This is the second time I have typed this post. When I finished the first time, I clicked the button to "Automatically Add" my "Troubleshooting Information" below the post "Details" field. This resulted in a "not found" error (https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/downloads/latest/426841/addon-426841-latest.xpi) and the loss of all of my text. Clicking the "back" button did not restore the text (as it sometimes has in the past) but brought me back to an empty post form.

The Bookmarks Toolbar disappearing can be caused by a problem with using "Restore Previous Session" as the startup setting, so if you restore the session automatically on the next start then try to disable this feature.
- Options/Preferences -> General -> Startup
Once the Bookmarks Toolbar has reappeared then you can re-enable the "Restore Previous Session" startup setting and check if the Bookmarks Toolbar stays visible on next starts.

That did it! Many thanks!
