Ever since I tried a cute toolbar my browser opens a tab for "my web search" plus an extra home page. It even opens them after I have closed them while I am browsing. I have uninstalled it and even uninstalled the browser and reinstalled it. It still keeps opening these extra tabs. For some reason, I don't think it is a virus but rather an adware/spyware thing. the toolbar involved tv with the usual extra things like a search engine. I can't find a thing in the task manager that might give it away.

MyWebSearch is a form of Spyware/Virus. I'll walk you through removing it from Firefox, and fixing your home page.

Download and Install MalwareBytes Anti-Malware, run a full Scan. http://www.malwarebytes.org/

Download and Run TDSSKiller http://support.kaspersky.com/faq/?qid=208283363

Download and Install Microsoft Security Essentials http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/products/security-essentials (not an official endorsement, but I personally recommend MSE as an awesome permanent anti-virus)

Double check for all Windows Updates.

After doing all those, read How to set the home page. You probably have multiple home pages, you can tell because they are separated with a "|", so you can just remove the my web search one.. After that, let me know if you still have problems.
