Every extension causes a problem with image links
I've reset Firefox twice to confirm this and it's happened with both AdBlock Plus as the only installed extension and Xkit (for tumblr) as the only installed extension. Image links on most sites are replaced with a small box containing a series of letters and numbers (E623, F450, etc). The number/letter combinations appear to stay the same. I am unable to tell what the link is for unless it has alt text describing it. I've cleared out my cache and history, reset Firefox twice, and even cleared the Windows DNS. Nothing is solving this problem and there are a few extensions I do need in order to work with Firefox. I have screenshots of the buttons that are showing this problem if that will help.

Those missing icons are actually supplied by a font that is downloaded from the server (@font-face) as you can see by the little boxes that show the hex code of the characters.
Make sure that you allow pages to choose their own fonts.
- Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced: [X] "Allow pages to choose their own fonts, instead of my selections above"
You can check the gfx.downloadable_fonts.enabled pref on the about:config page and make sure that it is set to true (if necessary double-click the line to toggle its value).
