Computer often hangs while "waiting for google-analytics.com" or other ad-oriented link, when trying to open pages.
It doesn't happen for every page every time, but it's becoming really frequent. It always happens when opening my home page (toodledo). The hang can stick around for 10 secs, 20 or more, sometimes full minutes. It has yet to crash totally due to this. I have only 5 add-ons enabled, only 1 of which automatically opens. I run Avast frequently -- just did it yesterday & I'm still having this problem. I've also cleared recent history -- cookies, caches, browsing/history, form/search history, active logins -- still same problem. I'm updated to most recent version of Firefox & Mavericks OS.... I'm also having slow shut-down times & slow-wake-up times if I've put the computer on Sleep. Not sure if these are at all connected.

Have you attempted to run Firefox in Safe mode to see if the issue dissipates?

HI, ClarkBrushes!
I just tried it in Safe (thanks for speedy response!), & it helped, more or less: in Safe, problem gone. I re-started the computer, re-started Firefox in regular mode: now I see the google-analytics message (which I never used to), but it flashes by & pages open with no hang.
I'll keep an eye out to see if it re-occurs, & if it does, I'll run through turning off hardware acceleration, resetting the theme, disabling & testing add-ons, etc, until I pinpoint the source of the problem. If I do end up doing that, I'll post results.
Thanks very much!
