I like emails sorted by date. I know when threaded the dates are all mixed up. Yet, outlook allows me to do this and it is very convenient.

View menu (Alt+V) > sort by > Threaded

I know that already. However, that doesn't allow grouping by date while threaded. Only allows sorting by date.

I have no idea what your talking about.

The menu offers thread and group by. If it is not group by I have absolutely no concept of what it looks like.

I set my view to sort by date, descending. I also clicked on threaded. After thinking that the thread was placed by the date of the oldest (original) message, I looked again and saw that the original message was on top, displaying the original date and time, but that it was actually positioned by the date/time of the most recent message in the thread even though the most recent message didn't show unless you expanded the thread.

Seems nice to me as a newbie to Thunderbird! Catalter, not to your liking?

My view is also set to sort by date. However, the messages are still not GROUPED by date when threated b/c "group by sort" and "thread" cannot be selected at the sametime.
