Can Mozilla upgrade the compatibility of Firefox with Adobe via the Pepper based Flash player Chrome uses
I've noticed recently that when using Firefox I can't (again) watch Australian Broadcasting Corporation videos using their ABC Iview site (www.abc.net.au/iview). I believe this is because my up to date version of Mozilla Firefox on Ubuntu 12.04 (Linux) is using Adobe Flash Player 11.2.202.400 (according to http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/) but Adobe says this is the last version they are going to produce for the Linux operating system and they're not going to release further versions for Linux. The ABC however says on their site that I need Adobe Flash Player 11.7+ to view their streaming video - see http://iview.abc.net.au/support/faqs.
So, my desire to use Firefox because I support their principles is wedged by Adobe and the ABC together (ie. by anti-competitive actions by Adobe and stupidity by the ABC!)
My only option is to use Google Chrome, but I'd much prefer to use Firefox. I'm wondering if Mozilla Firefox is going to see if they can use the "Pepper based Flash player" that Chrome uses, or is this something that Google has the copyright for.
I could post screen shots of the errors I receive trying to watch ABC iview attached, but they don't seem particularly relevant and in any case, I can't see how to add any images to this question.
Yours,

Hello,
Thank you for being a Firefox User! We understand the frustration you face due to Adobe not supporting Flash on Linux anymore and yet a site you use requiring a higher version than is available.
Our support community is run by volunteers who work hard to help all Firefox users, but we can’t make changes to the design ourselves. Please help us improve Firefox by leaving feedback where the designers and engineers can see it: https://input.mozilla.org/en-US/feedback.

Bug 729481 - Support the "Pepper" Plugin api
This might be worth a look:
- http://linuxg.net/use-googles-pepper-flash-inside-your-firefox-browser-via-fresh-player-plugin-tweaks-available-for-ubuntu-14-04-ubuntu-13-10-ubuntu-12-04-and-derivative-systems/
- https://github.com/i-rinat/freshplayerplugin
However, I'm not sure if it would be feasible to keep both the old Adobe Flash and the wrapped pepper Flash active at the same time. If there are problems on other sites, you might need to keep the Add-ons page handy.

thanks all for info and directions as to where I should have posted this comment.
I think I'll have to wait and hope Mozilla change their policy about supporting the PPAPI plugin.
Kind regards,
Paul
