Why the "Ask Search" inside the "search" box/line? Never had it on prior FIREFOX! Can I get rid of it?

I've used FIREFOX for a longtime.

Now a new computer with new software installed.

The search box has the words "Ask Search" and that is a 'first time' ---- so is that "safe" or from other than FIREFOX?

It's a spamy search, you can remove it. You can remove it by from the Manage Search Engines dropdown next to the search box...

Hi CD Friou!

If you didn't install it yourself it seems your search has been taken over by the Ask toolbar. It probably came with Java.

Check this thread here in the Ask.com help center: http://help.ask.com/link/portal/30015/30018/Article/1/How-do-I-remove-the-Ask-com-Toolbar

It should include all the steps to remove it.

Let us know if it worked!
