Bookmarks use URL as "name"; previous versions used clicked text or title.

When I add a bookmark via "Bookmark this page" menu or by dragging from a link or the toolbar to the bookmark toolbar or the library (Show All Bookmarks), the Name field of the bookmark is auto-populated with the URL rather than the title of the page or the text of the link, as previous versions did. Is there a setting where I can restore the previous behavior? I don't mind doing about:config if necessary. (FF 31.2.0)

Still works for me that way in the Firefox 31.2.0 version at least with Bookmarks > Bookmark This Page.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window
