Using Thunderbird 24.6.0, Windows 7, Brother Printer mfc 260c Print window does not let me select that option. I did see a reply to something like this but it was dated 2006 and suggested installing an add-on.

I do not know the answer, but it probably has not changed in the intervening years. Thunderbird really has very basic print functionality, and the selection option is supported by the printer driver and not Thunderbird so it is not available for use. (Note that window belongs to the printer driver not Thunderbird)

So I think this add-on is still the answer https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/printingtools/

Thank you Matt. I will consider the link. What I did do while waiting for a reply was to click on "Forward", remove all the unwanted text then Print. Then I closed the email not saving or sending it.
