FF 34 has been failing to quit. I must always force quit to be able to shut down my computer. I uninstalled it, put it in the trash and now the trash won't empty (error 8033). I tried Trash It and that doesn't work. How do I get rid of this trashed FF? I've reinstalled 33.1 for now.

Hello orvillej, error 8033 or 8003 ? :-), see if the next is helpful : http://www.banjora.co/2010/09/mac-osx-error-code-8003/

thank you

The error was indeed 8003, my mistake. I tried the advice from the link and it did not work. I received the same error code. As I mentioned in my question, I tried to use Trash It (which is what this link leads to) and its not doing its magic. Any other ideas?...oj

No good with Secure Empty Trash. Tried a couple of the options in the 2nd link-no luck. I haven't tried the one where you type stuff into Terminal cuz it says you could wipe your hard drive, which scares me!

Here's another angle. One thing I did that worked with a FF that I downloaded and then trashed while I've been going thru this-- I opened the Get Info window, changed the file type of Firefox from .app to .pdf which made it into a folder. I was then able to throw it away and empty trash. The FF that I have in the trash now (the one that won't empty)--when I try that the Firefox.app stays grayed out so I can't change it to pdf. Is there any way I can mess with permissions or something to get that line to get un-grayed?
