Do you get two separate windows or two tabs in a single window?

Do you get a similar double if you launch a new window (on Windows: Ctrl+n, on Mac: Command+n) or click the "Home" button on the toolbar?

If yes: your home page setting may have doubled. You can edit it by hand, or clear it and reset it. These articles have more information:

If no: if the problem only occurs using your Firefox program icon/shortcut, it would be helpful to know what OS you use to provide further suggestions. For example, Windows or Mac, and the version, e.g., XP / 7 / 8.1 or 10.9 / 10.10.
