A new tab opens up to some ad every 5 or 10 min how do I find whats doing it?and is so
I tried to down loaded extra lg cursor, and as soon as I did it started downloading one thing after another. One of them was block and surf that puts up ads. It put a app in fire fox I had to uninstall fire fox to get rid of it. But it must of moved and now it opens ads in a new tab every 5 or 10 mins.I have looked every where I can think of but can not locate the infection. I think I read someplace it can go into another app if so how do I find and get rid of it. I have run my norton software several times and got out all the other stuff but for some reason it is missing this. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am a novice when it comes to computers so please go into details that is easy to follow. Thanks

I did as you suggested and ran in safe mode. Then started enabling the add-ons and found it in the theme I was using. So I removed the theme and so far their has not been any more ads pop up or a new page open. I think I am free of this infection. I will be watching it very close and I sure will be more careful where I get my downloads from now on. I thank you for the support and wish you safe surfing.

Hello,
Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily turns off hardware acceleration, resets some settings, and disables add-ons (extensions and themes).
If Firefox is open, you can restart in Firefox Safe Mode from the Help menu:
- Click the menu button , click Help and select Restart with Add-ons Disabled.
If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Safe Mode as follows:
- On Windows: Hold the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
- On Mac: Hold the option key while starting Firefox.
- On Linux: Quit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run firefox -safe-mode
(you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)
When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "Start in Safe Mode".
If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, theme, or hardware acceleration. Please follow the steps in the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article to find the cause.
To exit Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.
When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help others with the same problem.
Adblock Plus {web link} Blocks annoying video ads on YouTube, Facebook ads, banners and much more. Adblock Plus blocks all annoying ads, and supports websites by not blocking unobtrusive ads by default (configurable).
