Often I get a box in an email that should have pictures or text in it but it is blank with a small little diagram in the top left corner. The diagram is a small rectangle on the botton with a narrower square in the top left corner of the diagram plus some connecting lines in this small diagram. The question is how do I show the content?

Probably its remote contents. That is the actual picture is not in the mail but its on a server with a link in your mail. Normally you should have an option to see remote contents. You can turn it on for good but that's a privacy hazard.
