I have a Dell with Windows on it. In the middle of doing some work on the computer, while connected to Volcano Company located in Pine Grove, CA, dsl, I received a HUGE banner stating that my computer software is SERIOUSLY INFECTED, it had the words Firefox, Microsoft and Volcano telephone, Norton, within the banner and to call an 800 number. When I did I requested info. I was told the company was called www.faceapzz.com and they were a contractor for "Windows, Apple and Firefox". It did not make sense to me so I asked for the "contractors' phone number". I called the number that was given to me. No announcement nothing regarding a business. A gentleman with an Indian accent, just as the one above, answered the telephone and started giving me the same crap and then finally asking him more questions he hung up on me. So what's up????? what is the best malware software to use. Obviously these folks got into my computer if they could place a banner on it.

Did the banner come from a webpage, or firefox itself? Oftentimes, companies like these (which are completely fake) use advertising networks to place advertisements like this. This seems likely, as the typical business model of these companies is to tell you that the only way to clear the malware is to install some software (that allows them to take over your computer). You can try some of the programs listed in Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware , though, just to be sure.

Mozilla does not do any official call center support in phone, email or chat as they do not have the resources to do so in supporting the Mozilla products and projects.

Mozilla also does not have any third-party doing support service whether free or for money. Several years ago they tried a third-party email support service that was short lived.

. Whenever you get a message / popup like that;

DO NOT USE ANY OF THE PROVIDED LINKS OR ANY PHONE NUMBERS ! !

Such messages are only Spam that could lead you to Fake Support. Not only can they damage or hack your system, they charge you to do so.
