How can I search for numbers in thunderbird?

My attempts to search for numbers inside email messages never work. Searching for numbers inside emails is my most common search need. Whether I attempt to filter or to search for known numbers inside emails, the result is the same: no hits.

Is there a solution to this problem?

What type of search are you performing? Using Thunderbird 31.6 on Windows 8.1, I can search for numbers in emails with both the "Find in Message" and "Search Messages" commands.

Please provide a specific example of your problem, and mention what version of Thunderbird you are using. Thank you.
