is there a way to restore a sessionstore files from Firefox 7.0.1 on to a Firefox 37.0.2 where by I have recently done a complete upgrade to a new system. I tried but it seems the file location and name are different between the two version.

When Firefox 37 exits, it still creates a sessionstore.js file in the profile folder that it reads at startup. To pop in an old sessionstore.js file, make sure to do it while Firefox not running.

The other file names (and locations) have indeed changed.

There have been changes to the format of the sessionstore.js to make it not compatible. You might be able to workaround this and run migration code if you manually update until you arrive at the current release.

You would have to install the Firefox 7 version to follow this path.
