Hi I want to be able to turn off the mouse pointer messages that appear when the mouse is stationary for more than 1 or 2 secs. The reason is due to wanting to be able to read what is under the pointer or around the pointer better. I can't find a setting to do this. Can you assist? I am using Windows 7 Pro.

This will depend on what site you are navigating on or if it is in the Firefox interface. However what you are describing sounds like tooltips.

In Firefox:

  1. "Type about:config in Firefox's address bar and hit on the enter key afterwards.
  2. Confirm that you will be careful if this is the first time that you are accessing the page.
  3. Paste browser.chrome.toolbar_tips into the search form on top.
  4. The preference is of the boolean type, which means that it can either be true (enabled) or false (disabled).
  5. Just double-click on the name to change it to false to disable tooltips."
