Firefox won't allow me to disable "automatically install" updates and choose "check for updates . . . " instead.

Recently installed Firefox on alternate desktop on new computer. When I went to configure my updating preference under "Menu" "Options", I clicked on the "Update" tab under "Advanced". Three options (buttons) appear for "Firefox updates". The first radio button ("Automatically install . . . ") was pre-checked. It would not allow me to "uncheck" that option and select an alternate. (I prefer the second, "Check for updates, but let me choose . . . ", option.) For that matter, it would not let me select ANY other option!

What gives? I didn't have this problem when installing FireFox on my other desk top on this (or every other) computer. This is on a Windows 7 system.

"alternate desktop"

Do you mean a limited user logon account in Windows 7? If so, go into your Admin user account and change the setting there.
